ACHEMA is the global forum of the processing industry and the trend-setting technology summit for chemical engineering, environmental protection and biotechnology.

With more than 900 lectures and around 27,000 participants, the congress programme formed the second cornerstone of ACHEMA 2012 alongside the exhibition.

The programme included a session of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on the topic "Research and Development for Securing our Raw Material Supply". During this session, the research results from the following joint projects were presented:

Besides these r² projects, projects were also presented from the BMBF’s "KMU innovativ - Ressourceneffizienz" scheme, a funding programme to encourage resource and energy efficiency in innovative SMEs. The programme in English included the following contributions:
